Prof. PharmD. Frantisek Staud, Ph.D., is a professor at Charles University in the Czech Republic. He is the head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology and vice-dean for research and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Pharmacy. Prof. Staud graduated from Pharmacy in 1994 and obtained his Ph.D. in Pharmacology in 1997. He worked as a postdoc research fellow at Kyoto University, Japan (1997-1999) and then Manchester University, UK (1999-2001). He lectures pharmacology to undergraduate and graduate students and examines state exams. Prof. Staud has spent most of his active research years in the field of placenta physiology, pathology, and pharmacology. With his team, Placenta in Health and Disease, he investigates the effects of placental pathologies and prenatal exposure to pharmacotherapy or illicit drugs on placental functions and fetal development and programming.
