OrphaDev4Kids General Assembly – Open call for paediatric medical device development

The past 5th of June, the OrphaDev4Kids Project held its second General Assembly. This event, hosted by one of the Project’s partners, the Medical University of Graz in Austria, counted with the presence of Project members and clinical experts.

The OrphaDev4Kids Project is a three-year, EU funded, project aiming to develop tools and services to different stakeholders (e.g. academia, industry) that wish to develop medical devices for the paediatric population, particularly, for people living with orphan disorders. More information about the Project and its partners is available here.

During the General Assembly, each Work Package presented their results for this first year as well as the future steps to successfully develop medical devices for the paediatric population, starting from the three use cases proposed within the project, two focusing on congenital heart disorders and one related to low bone density diseases.

One of the main aims of the Project is the open call to collect ideas for the development of new paediatric medical devices. This call is aimed at researchers, spin-offs, start-ups, and non-profit organizations, requesting services in several areas of medical device development, testing, implementation and access for patients. More information about this call is available here.
