The virtual meeting entitled “Precision Medicine in Paediatrics – Biotechnology and applications for development and health” will take place online on the 28th -29th of September.
The event has been organized by the institutes ITB and IRIB of the CNR (National Research Council), IRCCS (Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Healthcare) Medea and CVBF, in the framework of the European Biotech Week 2020, a week-long series of events celebrating the biotechnology around the world describing how the biotech has contributed to improve our life offering solutions to the major societal challenges worldwide. The first European Biotech Week took place in 2013, marking the 60th anniversary of this pivotal moment in history. The 2020 edition will take place from the 28th of September until the 4th of October.
The event will involve different experts in the topics identified who will present innovative technologies applied to biomedicine, with a particular focus on the paediatric field. The discussion will cover several aspects from the management of the samples, including the collection of samples and their handling and storage, to the omics technologies that allow to identify molecular profiles (big data), greatly increasing the precision in the characterization of physio-pathological states. Moreover, innovative drug delivery system, more suitable for the paediatric population will be presented. In this scenario, particular attention will be given to the innovative technologies and their application to the neurodevelopmental disorders and paediatric respiratory and neuropsychiatric diseases.
The event will be held in collaboration with Univerlecco, CNR-BiOmics ELIXIR (European life-sciences Infrastructure for biological Information) and the Italian node of EPTRI (European Paediatric Translational Research Infrastructure).
The event is free of charge and in Italian.
